STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT vs Original vs ELITE Differences

Compare STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT with Original and ELITE across script, Phone Trigger, art, voice, music, Moeka route, Observer, and English localization.

8/21/2026 Last updated: 8/21/2026

STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT is a remake built on ELITE’s condensed script, not a full restore of the 2009 original. Kiri Kiri Basara counted roughly ELITE = 67% of the original English line count and RE:BOOT = 80%. Some cut description came back; most ELITE omissions remain.

Gameplay / Phone Trigger

Four Chapter 6–9 stops still decide Suzuha / Faris / Luka / Moeka. Email conversations are “effectively unchanged” with some subject/wording tweaks. The new typing animation looks good and is why you cannot back out of a reply.

Presentation and audio

Official: all characters, backgrounds, and event stills redrawn; E-mote animation; all voices rerecorded; BGM remade by Takeshi Abo. KKB: Akihabara 2010 recreation is a highlight; some fans will need time with the new faces versus huke’s original look.

Menu SFX reportedly reused from ROBOTICS;NOTES (KKB). That is a curiosity, not a bug list.

Localization / UI (PC)

KKB (Steam review build): some long lines compress when they hit four or more rows; emphasis uses ALL CAPS instead of color; a day-one window patch already rewrote a few dozen lines. Untranslated Japanese on remaining story images is the biggest localization miss versus ELITE’s subs and ANONYMOUS;CODE’s edited images.

Noisy Pixel also called out text formatting and untranslated images, plus a Chaos;Head song-related email-chain discrepancy versus older versions — we list that as reported, without inventing the exact mail.

Who this comparison is for

New players can treat RE:BOOT as the current console/PC look. Original-text purists should know they are still on an abridged script. ELITE owners are buying presentation, Moeka, Observer, and audio, not a longer novel. See Worth It.
